I am a lazy sewer..

 .. and blogger. I started the project before I got sick in the mid of January. The pattern was already an adapted one. The original was probably one for a sweater from an old Burdastyle magazine. I used it for a wrapped cardigan years ago. I didn't even draw a new pattern piece, I took my original pattern pieces and marked the new front line with pins on the fabric. The second pic shows what it should look like.

 The fabric is a doublefaced jersey - one side in black, one in dark grey. I have had it in my stash for years and never knew what to do with it. I always wanted both sides to be seen, maybe even as an reversible cardigan. It is no reversible cardigan now but the "left" side is seen, too. All seams are finished with the serger.

I will go out tonight

 I finally won the fight with the new serger. It's great to sew with. I made this one in about an hour for cutting and sewing. I wore it for dancing party last Friday.

Worn with:
* black jeans
* black ankle boots (I changed the shoes for dancing)

The pattern is an adaption from Ichigogirls Cowl Neck Dress pattern from Burdastyle.com. Actually it was only a size adaption because it came really small. A great pattern - really easy to sew with some effect.

It's a jersey with black and silver stripes, I cut two shirts out of it, but it'll probably take some time to take the pics as usual.

Have a great Sunday!

I am back...

I have been sick for too long. Three weeks suffering and feeling like I will never be strong and healthy again. I still am not but I believe I might be again some day.. Yesterday I tried to do my dance class again after three weeks - at least I could do half of the training and spent the rest of the time coughing and snapping for air. Not funny!

I did a bit of sewing. I bought new dance shoes on Saturday and I made them a bag.

The fabric is a leftover from these pants. The drawing is copied with glittery textil pen. It closes with a black- silver- drawstring. Simple but perfect for carrying my shoes.

That's all for this year so far. Good night!

30

A happy New Year 2012 to everyone!

And yes, I turned 30 two days ago. I had a great time for my birthday!! Party for about 36 hours (with a few hours sleeping in between)! All my family and friends around - they made my day!

I did NOT sew a new dress for my birthday party. I chose one I made in the end of September. I did wear it several times until now. I feel good in it and it is the perfect dress for the birthday party with my friends in the salsa club yesterday night.

The dress is based on a pattern Burdastyle Magazine 08/2010 #140 - you can find it here. It is a plus size pattern. Since I am no plus size (and hopefully never will be) and I do not have the bodytype to just size it down I drafted the patten mainly on my own. For the back and the sleeves I took a simple fitted dress pattern which I also used for my Schöneberger Dress. The front part is based on the fitted dress pattern. I some kind of "shrank" the plus size pattern horizontally on my personal pattern so I could use all marks for gathering and the required lenght for gathering etc. I cut the assymetrical neckline a bit freehanded - probably the reason why it is a bit too deep and I had to sew it together afterwards.

The fabric is a chocolate brown jersey. I also used it for the Invisible Sweater. Cheap enough to buy four meters. Thick enough for a winter dress. Stretchy enough to live in the dress. And the pattern gathered enough to hide all Christmas chocolate results. ;)

Worn with:
* brandnew boots (Franco Russo - bought on Wednesday in Dresden - my own birthday present) - I changed to dance shoes in the club
* necklace (bought on carnival da las culturas in Berlin in May - crafts from Perú)
* tights

Another blouse

Sometimes Most of the time I do not have time am too lazy to make any pictures of any self-sewn clothes. I made this blouse some time in summer.

The pattern is Burdastyle Magazine 10/05 #112. I didn't make any alterations except for my usual FBA. I think I even read some parts of the instructions which is much more than I normally do. The fabric is some kind of probably polyester crincle. There's no ironing necessary - perfect for me. And it feels quite well and cool on the skin. A bit annoying is that I need to take care of the front opening all the time - otherwise you'll have an exposed bra...

Worn with:
* Camel- wrap cardi (selfmade in 2010)
* Jeans (New Yorker - old)
* Western-like belt (vintage - been my father's)
* boots (Buffalo)

New in my library

These are now mines:

I also got the Made by Mom sweater - this time it was a surprise design, but she got the right taste. You will see it as soon as I wear it within the next days. A hand blender. And the best: A wellness day with él, hopefully soon.

Silent Night, Holy Night

 We usually spend a very chilly Christmas Eve at my parents' home. Coffee, spending time together, gift giving and dinner - usually fondue. No need to dress up too much. Here's what I wore:

The fake leather skirt is about 9 years old. It's a really basic skirt pattern, front and back with different darts, some easy BWOF pattern from 1998. I once love it and then I didn't wear it for years and years, but I could never decide to give it away. And I was right.. One of the less things I have been wearing for that long.

The jacket is my last year's Christmas present by Mom. Traditionally she knits me something each year for Christmas. Sometimes I chose the pattern, sometimes it's a surprise. This jacket was actually an order. I saw a quite similar version in black in some old Burdastyle Magazine. She executed in time. Thanks Mom!

Worn with:
* black f-leather skirt (selfsewn in 2002)
* grey knitted jacket (Made by Mom in 2010)
* black turtleneck (New Yorker)
* black thermo tights (Rossmann)
* boots (Tamaris)

Dancing in the rain..

Officially planned as my birthday dress - now worn for the family Christmas party. Yes, we already had it last Sunday since parts of the family are in Poland for the real holiday. Christmas seems to become quite chilly this year nothing really going on. Probably the best thing for me now.

Pattern: Burdastyle magazine 11|2011 #120B It's one of the Barbara Schöneberger dresses. I loved all of her dresses. Designed for feminine bodies (like mine). I feel great wearing it!

Alterations: Hmmm, yes, lots of. The pattern originally calls for a woven with a back zipper and sleeve zippers. I chose kind of a winter jersey. I only copied the front piece from the pattern sheet. I took my basic fitted jersey dress pattern for the back part and the sleeves. It has no back zipper and no back darts, just a back piece in the fold, long sleeves without zipper.

The front rouches are finished with a twin needle. They might need some more ironing to prevent them stand in a 90 degrees angle from my body (looking dinosaur's back alike).

 See the perfectly matched tights and umbrella??? ;-)

Worn with:
* turquois tights (inscene for Karstadt last year, but they don't have the color palette anymore)
* my beloved boots again (one could think I don't own any other shoes - that is not exactly right)

Now that I wore my birthday dress on Christmas - WHAT DO I WEAR FOR MY BIRTHDAY???

Still...

... smokefree! It's been 23 days by now!!!

I don't think I have more time now. It feels like I have even less. Nevertheless I did some sewing and I also did take at least pictures of one recent project.. Here we go:

Pattern: Burdastyle Magazine 08|2006 #113
No alterations. Dark brown winter jersey, quite warm. Almost impossible to see but it's a wrap shirt.

Worn with:
* jeans (New Yorker)
* boots (Deichmann)

Plain outfit. Bad hair. Worse pics. It's dark before going to work and it's dark after getting home - working too much? It's really hard to take proper pics when it's dark. It's even harder if the project itself is dark, too.
